Important Notice from Orthoco Regarding Kinesio Tape Platinum and Diamond-Patterned NKT Tape.
Last Updated: 04/15/2014

Important Notice To Orthoco customers that have purchased "new" Kinesio Tape beginning in August of 2007. Also known as "NKT," "Platinum," or "diamond pattern."

Please be advised that we have received a few comments and complaints with regard to poor adhesion, frayed edges, and in rare instances, blisters and skin irritation.

This will confirm that Kinesio USA, L.L.C. (the U.S. manufacturing representative) has received similar information and they are taking appropriate steps to rectify these matters. Please note the following comments by John Jarvis, Director (Kinesio USA, L.L.C.) in a recent letter to distributors and dealers this week:

Since the introduction of the improved Kinesio Tex tape in August of 2008, we have received close to 60 complaints (360,000 rolls of tape has been distributed) ranging from the tape not sticking as aggressively, the tape sticking too aggressively, fraying of the edges, and in severe cases causing blisters and shearing of the skin (approximately 15% of the complaints). In speaking with most, if not all, of these consumer complaints, we have found that in 85% of the cases, the therapist or practitioner has not taken the certification seminars necessary in becoming proficient in the technique. This is not an excuse by any means, but a concern to us, as we believe that this was not the case with the older wave-design adhesive patterned tape.

Since its release, we have found through positive testimonials, that the improved tape, with its diamond-design adhesive pattern, is definitely more advanced than we first thought, and because of this we are looking to re-introduce the original wave-patterned tape back into our US and international markets.

We ask that all partners customer support teams, please forward all calls of concerns to Kinesio USA, LLC at 888-320-TAPE (8273) as we will be more than happy to offer the assistance to rectify this situation and to explain the solutions in more detail.

If you have experienced any of these (or other) issues, please contact Kinesio USA directly to alert them. Again, they can be reached at 1-888-320-8273. As always, we sincerely appreciate your support and please feel free to call us with any questions or for additional information. Thank you.
